Pea-sized (G-3/8”) aggregates, which are mostly of 10 mm or 3/8” crushed stone, are commonly used for making concrete hollow blocks (CHB), water drains and pipe beds.

Less commonly known is that when blended with larger aggregates in structural concrete, the smaller G-3/8” stones fill the gaps between the larger aggregates. The denser concrete skeleton will need less cement and will increase strength by at least 10%.

Jay and Riza Amargo with their three children

Amargo Trucking is one of our first customers.

They started their business in 2015. That year, the National Housing Authority (NHA) began building houses for the victims of Supertyphoon Yolanda. This created a huge demand for construction materials in Iloilo so they decided to engage in aggregates trading.

The business is challenging. There are few producers of quality aggregates in Iloilo. Competition among aggregates traders is very tough and you have to deal with customers who have bad paying habits.

But it has rewards. They especially enjoy working with suppliers who understand their business and who work with them so they can serve their customers well.

“We like dealing with Montepiedra Aggregates because the company and its employees are very professional and customer-friendly. They have a modern facility that is very accessible and they produce high quality products. Their system is well-organized so doing business with them is easy,” says Riza.
